Methodology

Not Started

Member States are listed as 'Not Started' where there no steps have been taken towards transposing the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into national law, or if the EU Whistleblowing Meter has not been updated with any relevant information. If you have information regarding the current state of the transposition progress of any Member State, please see our About page on how to contact us.

In Progress

Once we are aware of any steps made in transposing the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into national law, then the Member State's listing will be updated to 'In Progress’. Subsequent developments during the transposition process of each Member State will be listed within the 'In Progress' category until the country completes transposition of the EU Whistleblowing Directive into national law or until the official transposition period ends.

Transposed

Once a Member State has transposed the EU Whistleblowing Directive into national law, that country will be listed within the ‘Transposed’ category. Once the period for transposing the EU Directive on Whistleblowing into national law officially ends at the end of 2021, we will review the strength of whistleblowing protections within the Member States.

Failed to transpose

In the unlikely scenario that a Member State fails to transpose the EU Whistleblowing Directive into national law, it will be listed within the ‘Failed to Transpose’ category.
